Hello, I have tried over and over to get Bridge to connect to my second laptop for a test run and it just doesn't seem to want to work.

I don't know what I am doing wrong!  I've folllowed all the directions, downloaded Bridge, loaded it on my spare laptop.  Went in again this morning and tried to connect my laptop to my second laptop with Bridge software.  the screen comes up and even though I am getting a RT feel from my writer (wireless), when Bridge opens up and after I go through setup, and click connect.  Nothing happens and there is no feed.

Eclipse-Only?

Hi, Debbie.

Dotchie's instructions should work for all CATs ... BUT only Eclipse allows output to multiple COM ports.  To get around that, you would need a serial port splitter.

Hope that helps ...!

Blonde-Monday-Morning-Question:

If I have Bridge loaded on two of my computers, shouldn't I be able to connect just as if I were in a depo and hooking up to an attorrney who has Bridge on his computer?

Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks for the suggestions.  Yes I have been using a serial cable.  I have an older bluetooth dongle from Stenocast and the bluetooth dongle for one of my laptops.

I will try the flow control in device manager and see if that works and if not, I'll try Dotchie's.

Are you using the serial

Are you using the serial cable or the multi-line block?  If so, I had the same issue.  What worked for me is:  In Device Manager, go into the port that you are outputting from.  Under "Port Settings," at the bottom is a box called "Flow Control."  I had to change that from "None" to  "Hardware."  That's all it was and I was good to go.

I agree with Michael, the StenoCast unit works great, and it should.  I had so many problems with the cables and/or the USB-to-serial connectors.  I bought my StenoCast stuff before Dotchie came out with her new connection instructions and I haven't had any problems with it at all.  I'd try Dotchie's before I'd buy the StenoCast, though. You'd save a lot of money.

Dotchie's Instructions ...

Debbie --

I have posted Dotchie's instructions (with her permission, of course) on my website.  You can read them here:

Hope it works for you!

Do Dotchie's instructions work with only Eclipse software?

I don't know what's wrong with your setup, but I had things like that happen to me all the time when I was using serial port and cables.  I finally bit the bullet and bought a Stenocast RED unit.  It's as expensive as hell, but I have to say it does work ALL the time.
