 Patented Technology for Better Translation

To make read-backs easier, turn on the Passport’s patented shadow-tracking display to see which keys you tend to drag or drop. Then use the Passport’s exclusive realtime key-registration adjustments to get better translation than with any other writer.

In the example below, while writing the stroke RAO a finger was dragged over the asterisk key causing a shadow.

The light red color of the asterisk tells us that the asterisk was very lightly depressed and most likely unintentional.

Enhanced Keyboard

• To simplify editing, running macros, and issuing commands from the writer, we’ve added two special keys to the left side of the keyboard that can be used alone or in combination with other keys – much like Ctrl, Alt, and Shift on a standard keyboard. And because they’re recessed, you’ll never know they’re there until you need them.

• To support expanded steno theories, the asterisk key and the initial “S” have been separated into two keys so you will be able to define them separately and in combination – or continue to use them in the traditional manner.  Traditional linked “S” and asterisk keys are also available for those who prefer them.

• The Passport features a “soft” landing at the bottom of the keystroke, increasing comfort and reducing shock.A revolutionary linked number bar eliminates the uncomfortable “ridge” effect when the depth of stroke is adjusted.

• To make “bridging” more comfortable with wide keys, the Passport’s keys are slightly less concave than the keys on traditional writers. To reduce fatigue and pain associated with “wrist twist,” elevated vowel keys are available in the same plane as the other keys. Vowel keys are also available in the classic low position for those who prefer a more traditional touch.

Depth of stroke and tension can also be controlled while you write with easily-accessible adjustment wheels.  Both wheels move in a continuous motion, and offer an unprecedented range of adjustment.
