Eclipse Steno | AccuCap Steno We recommend a Windows 10 Professional (or higher) system with a processor speed of 3.0 GHz or above and at least 16 GB of RAM. An Intel i5 or higher is ideal. Performance improves significantly with faster processors and additional memory. Multiple USB ports are recommended. For realtime connectivity with older stenographic writers, a serial port or a compatible serial adapter (PC card or USB) may be required. EclipseVox | AccuCapVox We recommend a processor such as AMD R7+ or Intel i7+, operating at 3.5 GHz or higher, paired with a minimum of 16 GB RAM and a solid-state drive (SSD). Dragon 16 and expert system configuration are also essential. To ensure optimal performance, background processes should be minimized. RAM
Docker is required to run the speech engine on the laptop. Docker is a platform that uses containerization to automate the deployment, scaling, and management of applications in isolated, portable, and efficient environments. When Eclipse and Docker are running, the RAM usage can reach 10GB. Given that most users will also have other applications open, it is recommended to have 32GB of RAM for smooth operation. Storage
Audio files require a reliable amount of storage space. Mac Users We do not recommend using a Mac for Eclipse RSR. Eclipse Steno and EclipseVox require an Intel-based Mac (i5 or i7) with at least 16 GB RAM and Windows 10 installed via Boot Camp. Boot Camp allows your Mac to boot directly into Windows, providing a more stable experience. We do not support Parallels, as it has caused system freezes, writer disconnects, and device compatibility issues in our testing. Note: M1 and M2 Macs are not compatible, as they cannot run x86-based Windows. For best results, use a dedicated Windows laptop.
