This interactive session focuses on refining both the art and technique of voice steno through a structured question-and-answer format led by Amy, aka, StenoVox. Attendees are encouraged to submit questions in advance, allowing the session to address real-world challenges and topics most relevant to today’s voice writers.
Discussion areas may include voice technique refinement, managing fatigue and burnout, improving consistency and accuracy, dictionary development, workflow habits, and adapting voice steno skills across court, deposition, and remote environments. The session blends technical instruction with practical insight, making it valuable for both newer and experienced voice writers.

Amy Armstrong, CVR-RVR, CART Captioner

Amy is a freelance shorthand writer and instructor with over a decade of experience as a working court reporter and captioner in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, Canada. An alumna of the International Realtime Court Reporting Institute, she teaches shorthand theory, Dragon Speech Recognition Engine, and Eclipse CAT softwares. Amy continues to cover complex litigation continentwide, providing realtime transcription in criminal courts, as well as high-profile captioning for world leaders and celebrities. She has served on the Board of Directors of the National Verbatim Reporters Association. As “Stenovox” on Instagram, Amy shares engaging, educational content that challenges industry norms and reimagines the role of the voicewriting stenographer.

Amy offers personal coaching, bootcamps, webinars, and in-person continuing education instruction at conventions and conferences across North America.
