This session provides a comprehensive overview of modern speech recognition engines and their role in court reporting and legal transcription workflows. Attendees will examine the fundamental differences between automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems and speaker-dependent voice models, with particular attention to how each approach affects accuracy, training requirements, adaptability, and long-term efficiency.

The program also includes a structured comparison of Dragon and Speechmatics, focusing on architectural design, performance characteristics, customization capabilities, and ideal use cases. Participants will develop a practical understanding of when and why Speechmatics may be the preferred solution, along with key considerations for integrating it into existing reporting workflows.

Learning Objectives:

• Distinguish between ASR systems and speaker-dependent voice models
• Compare Dragon and Speechmatics technologies and workflow implications
• Identify best practices and considerations for integrating Speechmatics into current reporting environments
